WHAT MAKES GYMKIDZ CLASSES DIFFERENT TO OTHER GYMNASTICS PROGRAMS?Gymkidz focus is child development through gymnastics. We care about more than just gymnastics and work to improve all areas of your child’s development including basic movement milestones, brain development and life skills. The Gymkidz environment is fun but the essence of what we do is founded in educating and nurturing happy, confident and well-rounded children. Gymkidz follows a comprehensive term program which is age appropriate and allows your child to progress at their own rate, tackling new challenges and skills each week over a 10 week term. The Gymkidz team are enthusiastic and are all trained specifically for the Gymkidz program. Your child’s progress is tracked throughout the term with Gymkidz sticker sheets, keeping your child motivated and challenged every step of the way.

When you arrive please ensure long hair is tied back and jewellery is not worn during classes. Children must be barefoot and please do not wear shoes on the mats (this includes parents and prams).

WILL MY CHILD LEARN PROPER GYMNASTICS?Absolutely! We’re a small gym that’s big on technique! The Gymkidz program is founded in artistic gymnastics where we focus on specific gymnastics skills on vault, floor, bars and beam each week. Our program goes further to include broader gymnastics disciplines such as rhythmic gymnastics, acrobatics, tumbling, and cheerleading. Our program is uncompromising on quality technique, body preparation and strength so that your child can execute gymnastics skills safely and correctly. As your child progresses through our program you can expect them to work on skills including cartwheels, handstands, forward and backward rolls, bridges, front and back handsprings, side and front aerials, front and back somersaults, forward and backward walkovers and round-offs, depending on their age and skill level.

The Gymkidz program very intentionally includes lead up activities and basic strength to boost your child’s cartwheel development. Once your child can cartwheel our focus shifts from learning a cartwheel to mastering one. We will work on different cartwheel entries, put it on the beam and even learn side aerials, a cartwheel with no hands! If you’re child is desperate to fast track learning their cartwheel, we offer cartwheel workshops once a term, where we spend a full hour focusing on body shapes, progressions and skills required to execute a cartwheel.
-
MY CHILD HAS NEVER DONE GYMNASTICS BEFORE, WILL THEY COPE?"Yes, we welcome children with no previous gymnastics experience.
